Christmas is only 10 days away and I’m sure I’m not the only one who hasn’t finished shopping. To help, I've discovered some great ideas for those of you with a Twilighter in the family.
1. The coolest one by far is the creation of Peter Facinelli (aka Carlisle Cullen) and iPhone app creator Rob de Franco called Vampire Transformer. In an interview by Lori Joffs and Laura Cristiano of Twilight Lexicon, Peter explains that he thought it would be a fun idea to have your own “coven” of friends, download their pictures into your app and make them look like vampires using overlays and your own original artwork. You also can overlay other faces (not necessarily vampire faces) and recreate images of yourself or friends. Once completed, you can e-mail, Tweet, Facebook or post it to a vampire gallery for ratings and comments. If the app is successful, Peter anticipates introducing a werewolf-inspired app in the future.
2. An authorized reproduction of Bella’s engagement ring and her wolf bracelet are available online in a variety of materials and prices. Both items claim to be co-designed with Stephenie Meyer. Items are 10 percent off if ordered by Thursday, Dec. 17.
3. Of course there are many sources for T-shirts, hoodies and water bottles with "Twilight" characters' faces and more merchandise available locally at Hot Topic or online at www.hottopic.com, which offers discounts on many items, or www.cafepress.com.
4. I personally like the offerings at author Stephenie Meyer’s Web site www.stepheniemeyer.com Besides special collector editions of the "Twilight Saga" books, the "Twilight" director’s notebook, illustrated movie companion and DVDs of the movie, she has a link to music that she personally recommends. I’m really interested in checking out some of these finds because I’m really starting to expand my musical interests thanks to these movies.
5. The ultimate Christmas idea for a Twi-family, if you have been lucky enough to not be affected too harshly by the economic downturn: Twi-Trips. Catch a vampire baseball game with some of the "Twilight" cast members playing or a vampire fan film project cruise.
6. I’ve decided to add the "Twilight Saga: New Moon" soundtrack to my wish list, I just checked out the movie one last time (in the theater that is) and am really in love with Hearing Damage by Thom Yorke and several others are really growing on me. There isn’t much time left so have fun shopping!
