Roman Polanski per ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’?

In quest’ultimo periodo sono circolate varie notizie riguardo ad ipotetici registi a cui affidare le sorti di un eventuale “Breaking Dawn” versione cinematografica. Roman Polanski è l’ultimo nome aggiunto al lungo elenco dei probabili. Venerdì, la Summit Entertainment, ha dichiarato (secondo il New York Times) di aver acquisito i diritti di distribuzione in Nord America del suo film “The Ghost Writer”. Come conseguenza di tale acquisizione dei diritti, almeno uno scrittore si è lanciato nel suggerire che Polanski dovrebbe essere il regista di “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”.
IFC Stephen Saito ha dichiarato: “Penso che sia il momento di iniziare spingendo il più recente membro (Polanski) della famiglia Summit a dirigere la quarta e ultima ’puntata’ dei libri Twilight”.
Mentre Saito riconosce il fatto che la maggior parte dei fans di Twilight sta spingendo per il regista di New Moon, Chris Weitz al timone del progetto che risale a prima della prima proiezione del film, egli afferma che vi sono diversi motivi per cui Polanski è una buona scelta – non ultimo dei quali è, “Devo suggerire l’austerità del regista di ‘Rosemary’s Baby’, potrebbe essere in grado di elaborare qualcosa di meglio”, in riferimento alla scena del parto.
Naturalmente, saprete che ci sono stati altri registi suggeriti, tra cui Gus Van Sant (citato da Robert Pattinson) e Tim Burton (da Jamie Campbell Bower). In ultima analisi, però, la questione resta in sospeso.

Roman Polanski has certainly been a newsworthy name of late. Putting aside the criminal tension surrounding him, his film The Ghost Writer has recently been acquired by Twilight series film studio Summit Entertainment, according to The New York Times.

As a consequence of that rights acquisition, at least one writer has taken the plunge in suggesting that Polanski should line up as the director for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

IFC's Stephen Saito states that "I think it's time to start a push for the newest member of the Summit family to direct the fourth and final installment in the Twilight books."

While Saito acknowledges the fact that most Twilight fans have been pushing for The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz to helm the project since before the first screening of the movie, he states that there are several reasons why Polanski is a good fit - not the least of which is, "I'd have to suggest the austerity of the director of Rosemary's Baby might be able to come up with something even better" in reference to the birthing scene(s).

Of course, you'll know that there have been other directors pushed around in the suggestion box, including Gus Van Sant (mentioned by Robert Pattinson) and Tim Burton (by Jamie Campbell Bower). Ultimately, though, the matter rests in the balance.
