Con il film # 1 al mondo che riporta il suo nome sopra il titolo e con i copioni più hot di Hollywood che giacciono davanti la sua porta, è davvero un bel momento per essere Robert Pattinson. Non che la star 23enne riesca a godersi tutto ciò perchè come ci ha riferito recentemente ha ottenuto solo “tre giorni liberi” nel 2009, e il 2010 sembra addirittura più fitto di impegni.
Recentemente, MTV Radio ha raggiunto l’uomo amato da milioni di fans come Edward Cullen per parlare dei suoi nuovi progetti per il prossimo anno — da “Breaking Dawn”e oltre.
“Ho fatto un solo film al di fuori della saga di Twilight, ‘Remember Me’ “ Rob si riferisce al suo primo vero progetto realizzato dopo aver raggiunto la fama, un dramma d’amore che sarà nelle sale il 12 Marzo, che vede come co-protagonista Emilie de Ravin, e la cui realizzazione è stata notata per via delle questioni sulla sicurezza. “E’ accaduto anche se l’ho fatto per lo stesso studio (la Summit n.d.r), e credo che sono ancora un pò cieco in merito a quella che è la mia attuale probabilità di sopravvivenza economica al di là della saga“.
Senza dubbio, tutti gli occhi saranno su “Remember Me” quando verrà testato l’impatto di RPattz sul box-office nel giro di pochi mesi. Seguendo quello e l’uscita di “Eclipse” per giugno, i suoi fans avranno film di grande risonanza cui stare attenti.
“Credo che il periodo provvisorio per ‘Breaking Dawn’ sia l’autunno del prossimo anno,” dice Rob del quarto capitolo di “Twilight”, il quale potrebbe essere diviso in due film. “Dipende da come andranno le cose, io sto per iniziare le riprese di un film che si chiama ‘Bel Ami’ in Febbraio,un adattamento di un romanzo di Guy de Maupassant. E farò — o almeno lo spero — un Western con Rachel Weisz e Hugh Jackman che si chiama ‘Unbound Captives’ più o meno nello stesso periodo. Stanno tentando e facendo un pò di giochi di destrezza sugli impegni di lavoro di ognuno.”
Rob diceva di essere ansioso di interpretare il ruolo in “Unbound Captives” perchè è qualcosa che non ha mai fatto prima. “Interpreto un ragazzo che è stato rapito dai Comanche [guerrieri] quando aveva 4 anni. Vengo allevato da loro, e in pratica mia madre trascorre tutta la sua vita cercando di trovare me e mia sorella” dice del ruolo di madre di Weisz. “Quando ci trova, non riusciamo a ricordare chi è lei e [non ricordiamo] nulla in merito alla cultura Western in cui lei è cresciuta.”
“E’ un qualcosa che non potrebbe essere più diverso di così da Edward” ha aggiunto. “Ho firmato per fare questo dopo ‘Twilight,’ nell’estate quando ho finito [di girare].E’ stato prima che accadesse tutto [ciò che mi ha reso famoso]. E io non ci pensavo neanche.”
“E’ semplicemente un bel copione“, dice Pattinson del film, tracciando un paragone con il finale di un film classico nel quale compare una star cui lui viene spesso paragonato: James Dean. “Mi ricorda in molti modi ‘Giant,’ che è uno dei miei film preferiti. Penso sia il motivo per cui mi sono fatto avanti.”
Già più che impegnato per il prossimo anno, Rob ha detto che continuerà a leggere nuovi copioni e cercare nuovi ruoli che catturino la sua attenzione - anche se ci sono degli aspetti della sua nuova fama che potrebbero minarne lo sviluppo.
“E’ una cosa decisamente diversa“, ha detto in merito l’essere un attore famoso rispetto uno che fatica ad affermarsi. “Ottieni cose che neanche sognavi di poter ottenere prima, ma questa è anche una cosa che spaventa. Non devi fare audizioni per niente. [Ma] Non voglio fare un film solo perchè bisogna farlo… Devi chiedere a te stesso molto di più“.
“Prima di ‘Twilight’, ho fatto ogni film che mi è stato offerto, e ho tentato e fatto del mio meglio dopo di essi” ha spiegato. “Ma adesso, ti aspetti di far parte di un film e non tieni conto solo dell’aspetto economico, ma anche della performance. Non puoi permetterti di far casino. E’ come se la gente dicesse ‘Ti abbiamo assunto per essere qui, sia come star che come attore’. E’ difficile e fa paura.”

With the #1 movie in the world bearing his name above the title and Hollywood's hottest scripts lining his doorstep, it's a good time to be Robert Pattinson. Not that the 23-year-old star has had much chance to enjoy it, as he recently told us he only received "three days off" in 2009, and 2010 looks even busier.
Recently, MTV Radio caught up with the man beloved by millions as Edward Cullen to discuss his plans for the new year — from "Breaking Dawn" and beyond.
"I've only done one movie outside of the 'Twilight' series, 'Remember Me,' " Rob said of his first true post-fame project, a March 12 romantic drama opposite Emilie de Ravin whose shoot was most notable for its security issues. "But even that I did with the same studio, so I guess I'm still a little bit blind as to what my actual economic viability will be outside of the series."
Undoubtedly, all eyes will be on "Remember Me" when it tests RPattz's box-office clout in a few months. Following that and June's "Eclipse," his fans will have some other high-profile flicks to look out for.
"I think the tentative time for 'Breaking Dawn' is fall next year," Rob said of the fourth "Twilight" novel, which might be split into two films. "Depending on how things go, I'm doing a movie called 'Bel Ami' in February, an adaption to a Guy de Maupassant novel. And I'm doing — I hope — a Western with Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman called 'Unbound Captives' sometime around there as well. They've got to try and juggle things around until everybody's schedules work."
Rob said he was eager to play the "Unbound Captives" role because it's unlike anything he's done before. "I'm playing a kid who was kidnapped by Comanche [warriors] when he was 4 years old. And he was brought up by them, and then his mother spends her entire life trying to find me and my sister," he said of Weisz's vengeful-mom role. "When she finds us, we can't remember who she is and can't remember anything about the Western culture which she grew up in.
"It's like, you can't really be more different from Edward," he added. "I actually signed on to that after I'd done 'Twilight,' in the summer after I'd finished [shooting]. It was really before anything had happened [to make me famous]. I wasn't even really thinking about it.
"It's just a cool script," Pattinson said of the film, drawing comparisons to the classic final movie featuring the star he is most often compared to: James Dean. "It reminds me in a lot of ways of 'Giant,' which is one of my favorite movies. So I think that's why I responded to it."
Already booked pretty solidly for the next year, Rob said he'll continue to read new scripts and look for other parts that might catch his attention — even if there are some facets of his newfound fame that undermine the process.
"It's definitely different," he said of being a famous actor as opposed to a struggling one. "You get offered stuff that you would never dream of getting offered before, but that's also scary. You don't have to audition for anything. [But] I don't want to do a movie just so it gets made. ... You have to question yourself a lot more.
"Before 'Twilight,' I did any movie that I got [offered], and you'd try and make the best of it afterwards," he explained. "But now, you're expected to come into the movie and provide not only economic viability, but also a performance as well. You can't just mess around. People are like, 'We're employing you to be here, as a star and an actor.' It's difficult, and it's scary."
